This is Triinu Leaf and Vine Shawl. The most expensive pattern known to man! It's actually highway robbery....it was almost 30 bucks. Fool that I am, I paid. I had to have this pattern. But I must say the author of this pattern thinks way too much of her abilities, I'll let my feelings about this end here.

I spent about a year looking for this project, and then it took me another 6 months to find a shop in Germany where I could buy it. I fell in love with it because the finished project looks like swirley lace. I love swirley lace. In knitted items it is hard to find, most knitted lace is geometric, and I am weary of squares, triangles, or anything with a pointy edge....I want curves, and lots of them! So here it is off the needles, and oppurtunity to see it laid out before I rip. It's been 3 years since I've posted on this blog...alot of things have changed....ALOT!!!!! We (Dick, Weebs and Me) don't live in Arizona anymore, we are back home in Chula Vista....Chula Vista means Beautiful View.........and it is...On a clear day I can see the Del Coronado Hotel from my living room....and the pacific ocean...the wonderful ocean! I can drive three miles to the water, and walk Webster along the Bay.
I miss Arizona, I miss Barbara aka Mrs G., I miss the desert and the life Dick and I had there. I miss Ollie, the best damn knitting bud a girl could ever have. I miss a bunch of things....however when I was living there, I missed the things that I have here....life is just one damn trade-off after another, no doubt about that. I am glad to be back in California, it is home, but I did learn that anywhere Dick and I are together, is home. So if you are out there reading this, I'm back.........mostly with gardening, knitting, dog stuff and probably 'me' stuff, and most likely some 'You' stuff....after all, it's a blog, and there is not much I know better than I know me! (cept maybe you!)

CLOGS FOR THE GIRL-CHILD

Girl child is the "really wonderful woman" who married my son. These are part of her birthday present for 2006! Have you noticed that even though I knit them EXACTLY the same, my clogs turn out different sizes??? What's with that?

I don't normally knit small things, but I think that has changed!!!!!!
I don't normally knit things for OTHER PEOPLE, that has changed too!!!! These are for the lovely Arabella! She says, "My shoe size is 4, but a 5 feels so good that I wear a 6." She is a tiny person, but nonetheless, a mighty one!

THIS IS A PRE-FELTED PICTURE! It seems I forgot to snap pic of them after the felting was done. I was so fascinated by the tiny size, that the thought of pictures eluded me!

A bit of Lace

I knitted this for my friend Penrose, who had a nasty bout with cancer.....we live several hundred miles apart so it was impossible to be with her. This was to be her security-know i'm thinkin of you every moment of the day-please get well blanket/shawl! She took it everywhere, in the car, slept with it, took it to the hospital during here lenghty visits, it had lots of good vibes, love and and a bunch of fuck-you, you CREEP-O cancer-get the hell outta here, knit into it......It worked, she's well!!!!
...........The pattern is a spin off of Knitter's Magazine's Crystal Blue Persuasion. I used Lorna Lace's Shepard Worsted Weight yarn......VERY SOFT!!!!! A very easy knit! As I was blocking it, one row jumped out at me...... a glaring mistake, it's very visable in this picture.... evidently, when I ripped, I twisted the stitches when I picked them up! This should have taught me to STOP and LOOK at my knitting! To look at it often and look hard! Look at it close up, look at it from a distance, turn it upside down, right side up, and DO IT OFTEN!!!!!!! I've been taught this particular lesson many times before! HUMP! Maybe I'll learn next year!!!!!!

Creative Blocking

Here is an example of 'creative blocking'...well anyway, it made me FEEL creative.....My Zonta wires just worldn't cut the mustard this time..these are felted clogs....from Fiber Trends...after I took them out of the washer, I needed a way to keep the round shape of the white rolled top......I stuck big plastic cups in the clog, and put big rubber bands around them, right under the white roll on the top..... It worked!!!

Ok, I really do knit! Here's proof! Well technically it isn't proof, it's just a picture of me in "Sleeves in your Pi" or "Pi in Your Sleeves" I can never remember which it is...and isn't it lovely? ('cuse me while i go puke)..this is my feeble attempt to get this blog out of the funk crap river of boredom it's landed in along with my knitting. I don't seem to be able to knit more than 3 rows a day, if that!!!!! I 'm just too busy doing very important world changing stuff, and when I sit down to knit, up pops another incredibly-must-be-done-right-now-or the planet will stop spinning thing-to-do.....down goes the wool, and off I go......as hard as I've been working I would think that soon, very soon, I should be done with these 'very important' jobs, I will have saved the world, and MAYBE I can get back to some real knitting........I like really big projects! But right now I am trying to finish a pair of Felted Clogs (fiber trends pattern)......Perhaps this is the problem....they are a small project, rather insignificant in the universal scheme of things.......and altho they are nice and warm, they don't impress me. However, that's not to say I'm not impressed with knitters who CAN and DO knit small projects.....I'm VERY impressed....Ollie (my bud!) does it all the time.... And what's more mind-blowing to me is that half the time she doesn't even know who she's knitting it for!!!! I don't get it!! For example I say, "Who's the hat for Ollie?" She will very matter of factly say, "I dunno, I'm sure there's a baby somewhere in the world who needs a hat." Du!!?? Why do I keep asking her this question.....I pretty much know what her answer will be........And as she answeres, the thought passes thru my mind that she her wasting her valuable time, knitting something for someone, somewhere who maybe isn't even here yet, when she could be knitting the Empire State Building for all the world to see!!!.....What an idea, maybe I should get started on the chart!! YEAH RIGHT!!! In the end, well.....it all makes me very sad for myself....she knits for the love of knitting, and I do envy her that.......and me? the miserable pathetic truth seems to be obivious, I knit to impress myself. How frickin stupid is that? And lately, my knitting, it don't impress me much!!!!!

Day Trippin' With Sticks and String

It's Sunday morning, my personal favorite! Great TV; Sunday Morning, Breakfast with the Arts...and real breakfast's, if we feel like it..... Today is gonna be way cool....Liz and Ollie will be here at 10am, and we will be off to the Scottsdale AZ Knitting, Crochet & Fiber Arts Show...........I hope to find some goodies from Interlacements........

I should say that Liz, is like the good witch in the wizard of Oz, last time we did a day trip together, in the middle of it I found two people that I lost 38 years ago.......that's pretty freakin incredible! It blew me away, and of course it was HER auora, her poxie, that cauzed it, albiet unknown to her I suspect!!.....I'd been trying to find these two people forever!!!! And along comes Liz, and Bingo!! I wonder what she has up her sleeve today, or in her head, or where ever she keeps her magic! Good Witch Liz!!!
